Sketchbook Studies – Simplified Landscapes – 2 Minute Sketches

Taking advantage of the views on our walk near Portinscale in the Lake District today, I did three 2-minute sketches, concentrating on the shapes of the mountains. My husband took some reference photos on his phone – I remember the colours being brighter with more contrast in reality. I will have to try some watercolour sketches in colour. One of the sketches shows a different subject: a quick sketch of a staircase while waiting for a train at Lockerbie Railway Station. One idea that I am keen to investigate is making a simplified or abstracted landscape.
