A few pages from my sketchbook:-
View from my workroom window with distant wind turbines. Oil pastels.
The foreground and middle ground are hard to distinguish (more practise needed on getting the tones right), but I liked the way the turbines stood out against the black paper.
Autumn Leaves. Ink line drawing, and watercolour colour study.
I love the colours of autumn leaves so much, that I often collect them when I’m out walking. These three were particularly appealing, so I decided to try out my new bamboo paper with the paints. It is very thick with a textured surface – nice to paint on, but buckled a bit with all the water I used. Maybe I will try and combine the ink and paint another time, but I kept them as two separate drawings on this occasion. I enjoy the way that the wet paint runs and combines in sometimes unexpected ways.
